In the vein of always giving credit where credit is due, and as co-founder and former head editor of AZK, I feel that the loss of Miles “Slime” Berrett is much bigger than any of us could imagine. He was always one of my favorite desert dwellers and a solid friend, in addition to being one of the original AZ Kaos family members. A handful of the original zines would have never made it to press on time had Miles not pitched in so much work. It most certainly wouldn’t have had half the distribution or witty insight into forgotten gems, had he not darkened our doorstep. I feel that the least I could do is shine light on some of the things that he poured his passion into that we may have forgotten or not known about in the first place.
So…as many of you know Facebook has been tweaking things the past year or so in regards to “pages” and “profiles” and without going in to a lot of detail the deal is we will be changing our Facebook page from an individuals profile to a page. So we are going from a person to an organization, company, whatever you call it. Going forward this will alleviate any issues with losing friends or limiting the amount of friends we can have. We now go from “friends” to “likes”.
2014 is done and as we move more in to 2015 we at AZK wanted to look back and kind of review what the year was like. Yet again we went to more shows that we can count either individually or as a team and literally took thousands of pictures. Almost every time I am out and about I have my camera with me, I just don’t want to miss anything if I can help it I suppose. It has become attached I think, anytime someone sees me at a show without it they ask if anything is wrong.

Writing this bi-weekly column allows me to get some creative writing out of my mind; ideas are free from being trapped in this constantly moving pile of matter I call a ‘brain’. In some ways, it helps me arrange my thoughts, organize the unorganized, and form full and complete thoughts that may or may not even be good in the first place. What’s really great is that I get to share some knowledge about things in the music scene, music instruments, or something related to music.
