This week we’re going to watch some trailers of new and upcoming punk documentaries so we can be well rounded humans and learn something from each other already.
Screening at Filmbar in Phx on October 7 and out on DVD on October 13th covering the span of the 20+ years of the fierce lady punks that make up the revolutionary grrrl band, L7. Featuring interviews with Exene Cervenka, Shirley Manson, Joan Jett, Lydia Lunch, Allison Wolfe, Allison Robertson (Donna R), Brody Dalle, and more.
Have a look inside the Osaka punk underground. The DVD will be released December 11th and you can pick up a $10 pre-order with free poster here.
The long awaited film about one of the first ever all-lady punk bands, The Slits won’t be released until Spring 2018, but you can watch this snippet and maybe even pre-order your copy here.
This one covers the early San Francisco punk scene and has been hitting the film fest circuit with no word yet on when it will be available to the rest of us. It features the likes of Jello Biafra, The Avengers, Frightwig, Flipper, The Lewd, and more. Hopefully we’ll have word on a release soon.
Also making the film fest circuit with a TBA release date is A Punk Daydream exploring the lives of Indonesian punk rockers in their day-to-day of dealing with poverty, pollution, and corruption.
I Am A Cliche is still in production and won’t be out until next year, but damned if this look into the legacy of Poly Styrene, the voice of X-Ray Spex, doesn’t propose to be fucking awesome. We’re already looking forward to this one! Keep updated on it here.
