We do love our punk documentaries here at AZ KAOS, and a new year means we’re going to try something a little new. Instead of your regularly scheduled Trailer Park in which we watch trailers for upcoming docs, we’re going to give you the gift of watching a few full length ones that the filmmakers or bands have graciously made available for free. Hope you’ve got some time to kill on these killer flicks about punk rockers and be sure to show your support and thanks for keeping us entertained.
We try to keep up on album reviews here, but obviously suck at that. Regardless, we still listen to everything despite rarely getting around to writing about it or managing to get the writers to actually turn stuff in. We’re a fucking punk zine, what did you expect?
The end of the year means promises of better things, but also a look back at wasn’t completely awful in the last spin around the sun. It also means all the year-end lists from your favorite opinionated assholes.
In this installment, we hear about the top 5 record picks from Monty O’Blivion — head honcho of Manual Sex Drive and former member of local favorites The Limit Club and The Video Nasties. He’s pretty much one of the most opinionated people you’ll ever meet and possibly the best fucking guitar player to come from The Valley in recent history (even if he’ll never admit it.) You can check out all you need to know about MSDand even hear some of their tunes here.-The Ed
Everyone’s favorite and loveable Misfit, Glenn Danzig, is no stranger to ending up in the news regularly for some pretty absurd reasons such as picking up supplies for his kittens, angrily throwing bricks after a number of complaints from his neighbors, eating cake, beating up on photographers, and getting knocked out by local band North Side Kings’ very own Danny Marianino back in 2004.
Punks and Metalheads alike can all agree on their appreciation of his hi-jinks and absolutely cannot deny his love of furry felines and snacks. While he was busy this year putting out new music, promoting, and performing for fans (aka real work), he also found time to give us even more reasons to love him and participate in our favorite sport: Danzig Watching. Without further ado, I give you The Best Danzig Moments of 2017 with the sincerest of hopes that 2018 will top it.
We’re back with more new music to cram into your ear holes. Most of this week’s bands will be playing shows in Arizona soon, so be sure to check out the calendar if you want to support locally. Otherwise, a click on the Bandcamp icon will take you to their page so you can support the old fashioned way.
This is our last round of music videos from the locals here in Arizona for 2017. Absolutely the last until next year and it’s quite a mix that your friendly desert dwellers have concocted for the ears of all who will partake. We have some spooky songs, some loud songs, some pseudo-devil magic, and a whole lot of just plain good times. So, grab a buddy and check out the most recent A/V treats, won’t you?
