A Fat Wreck

A Fat Wreck

By now, I’m sure everyone here is quite familiar with Fat Wreck Chords and the ever-so-colorful Fat Mike. Some of us may even be familiar with how it began and the hundred plus bands that have touted the Fat Wreck seal of approval on one or all of their releases. The alumni list is pretty hefty, particularly if you include subsidiary labels Honest Don’s and Pink & Black, which unfortunately, were barely mentioned in this documentary. I have more complaints being a terminal curmudgeon, but we’ll get to those later.

Fat Wreck Interviews – Less Than Jake/ Anti-Flag/ Masked Intruder/ Get Dead

So last month we had the opportunity to do some interviews when the Fat Wreck tour passed through. We got to talk to Chris from Less Than Jake, Pat from Anti Flag, the legally challenged Masked Intruder and Sam & Tim from Get Dead. It was a challenge at times, doing that many interviews in one night but all the bands were helpful and really nice. Thanks to Talia for editing the videos and our own Gaby Kaos for setting everything up.

Fat Wreck Tour Hits Arizona, Yes We Were There

Last week the Fat Wreck Tour made a stop in Mesa at The Nile bringing Less Than Jake, Anti Flag, Masked Intruder and Get Dead to the Valley and we were fortunate enough to have tickets to give away courtesy of Angelo from The Kollective, and we were also able to Interview some folks from the bands. A special thanks to Vanessa from Fat Wreck for that! First I have to say that interviewing people from 4 bands while attempting to take pictures and enjoy the show can be a daunting task but luckily for Gaby Kaos and myself we had the help of our friend Talia so many thanks to her!

Less Than Jake
See The Light
Fat Wreck Chords (2013)

A fortunate coincidence has it that Less Than Jake will be in the valley next week and they have a new album out! Their first full length in 5 years is out now, “See The Light” has them back with Fat Wreck and if you are a fan of the band you WILL like this album, it is what you would expect from these Ska Punk Veterans. 20 some years of doing this means you have plenty of “classics” that people will always compare new things to, it happens yet I think this album is good enough to avoid that. Listen to the first track ”Good Enough” and it is obvious this album is gonna be strong, on its own so save the comparisons and give it a listen because these guys have delivered on what you fans have been waiting for.
